Desperate Housewives’ star Teri Hatcher is working her way through her bucket list, a list of things she wants to accomplish before kicking the bucket. The most recent accomplishment? Triathlon.
In an interview with People.com, the 44-year-old actress revealed after she announced her goal, that her show’s parent company, Disney, had asked her to lead a team in this year’s 2009 Nautica Malibu Triathlon, which was held September 13th, to raise money for the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles.
Hatcher has always been an active athlete, biking and swimming regularly, but really stepped up her training before the race. She started to ride her bike to work 3-4 times a week and has even taken up swimming with whales. I’d probably swim pretty fast too if I had a whale breaching near me. And then I would need to change my swimmie bottoms.
The hardest for her? Running. (Amen, sister.)
“It’s the least fun for me,” she says about the four-mile run that concludes the event. ”By that point, I’m really tired, so the whole time I’m thinking, ‘I’m not going to make it.’”
But make it, she did. Hatcher’s dedication and commitment paid off, surprising herself at how well she did.
“I did surprise myself that I’m in better shape than I thought I was.”
Congrats, Teri. Here’s to having a lot more time to finish off that list.
Do you have a bucket list?

That's kind of a cool idea, I have to admit. A bucket list, that is (though her accomplishment is cool too). Would have to think of some things I'd like to accomplish first, though. But, ah what the hell, here's a short list to start. 1.) learn Spanish! 2.) travel to South America (Buenes Aires!) 3.) make a movie (ya never know!)
