More than 50 percent of women say their feet embarrass them “always, frequently or sometimes,” reports The New York Times. That’s a lot of people. Not tough to see why though. All summer I’ve seen women walking around with dry, cracked heels, calluses and ingrown toe nails. Eww.
I’d like to be part of the 50 percent that are rarely, infrequently and never embarrassed by their feet. But in this economy, it’s difficult to rationalize pricey pedicures at upscale salons, so I’ve downgraded to neighborhood hole-in-the-wall joints. While they lack the Zen atmosphere, scented candles and relaxing instrumental music, I’m happy to not shell out major bucks for the service. But cleanliness is one area I’m not willing to compromise.
Enter SaniManiPedi Liquid Solution. It’s a 100 percent natural formula that can be added to a footbath to help protect, clean and soothe your feet. I had to give it a try it since I get paranoid about how sanitary some of these places are that charge only $20 for a mani/pedi combo.
I was a bit nervous to ask the technician if she could add the solution to the water and was relieved when she easily agreed. I handed her the little pink-and-white striped, single-use packet. Immediately she raved about the aroma and nearby technicians commented how nice it was. The water was scented with a refreshing herbal combination of lavender, tea tree and rosemary. Many of the essential oils in SaniManiPedi have natural antimicrobial properties. They aren’t considered disinfectants like bleach and chlorine (which are too harsh for direct contact with skin), but are still powerful antiseptics.
The technician also commented how soft the solution made my feet feel. I credit the jojoba and sesame oils in the product, which are great moisturizers. A short while later, the salon manager came by to examine the empty packet. She loved the way it smelled and wanted to know if she could get some for the salon. Judging by the reaction of people who are around feet day in day out, SaniManiPedi got two thumbs up. I’m definitely bringing another packet on my next visit.

Smart solution, but maybe the reason women feel so uncomfortable about their feet is they know other women are constantly judging their every fashion item, outward growth, and yes, foot callous. Just a thought.
Sounds wonderful. I never had anyone judge me by my feet? I know I get really dry skin in the winter though.
