What Do You Think of Designer Ink?

Why do people get tattoos? Usually, it’s as a tribute to something very important to the person getting inked. A child’s name, the face of dead family member or an inspiring quote. Then again, it can also be a showy cliche: a tribal armband, Chinese symbols for wisdom and faith and love, or Tweety Bird. So, if people are willing to get all those things permanently etched on their bodies, why not the Chanel logo?

Let’s just say, it’s not the worst idea in the world. Afterall, so many of us can’t afford Chanel clothes, so why not get the logo tattooed on your arm? I guarantee it will cost a heck of a lot less than a quilted purse or tweed suit from the French fashion house. And no one will be able to disbute your loyalty to the brand. And you will never have to worry about leaving the house without putting on your Chanel.

And, let’s just be honest, getting Lanvin or Louis Vuitton tattooed on your body is a hell of a lot smarter than getting a tattoo of a lover’s name. Afterall, a love of Louis Vuitton, Lanvin or Chanel is timeless. Unlike your love for that cute guy from the club last night.

Then again, this idea can go horribly wrong. Like when Marc Jacobs’ former boyfriend decided to get the designer’s name/logo tattooed on his forearm. He should have known better. They are no longer together. It’s one thing to get a fashion lable tattoo, it’s another thing entirely if the designer is your lover. Tisk, tisk. That’s not just a fashion faux pas, that’s a bad life decision.
