5 Tips for Holidays on a Budget

  1. Consider sending cards in lieu of gifts.  It’s the thought that counts, and everyone appreciates a heartfelt holiday greeting in the form of a card.
  2. Take a mini trip.  Instead of traveling far to see family or friends, consider having a small-scale getaway with your immediate family or significant other.  Many hotels and homes offer holiday season discounts since they get less business during the holidays when most travelers are staying with family.
  3. Many websites offer guides with low-budget gift suggestions for Christmas and Hanukkah.  Doing the extra research will help you find something that means a lot but costs a little.
  4. Dreaming of a luxury holiday on a budget?  Rethink your definition of luxury.  Have a spa night in with girlfriends or cook a homemade meal with a significant other instead of blowing your paycheck on a dinner out on New Year’s Eve.
  5. Start a Secret Santa tradition with your family or group of friends.  This allows you to invest in one nice present for one friend versus dozens of cheaper gifts for all of your friends.

Happy Holidays!
