It took me a long time to accept that there was a difference between eye cream and regular facial moisturizers. Even longer to accept that you do indeed need to use both for younger looking skin. For a long time I felt that your daily moisturizer was fine for around the eyes and that skin care lines were just using eye creams as a way to get you to buy an extra product. Alas, I was wrong and I have since come to learn through trial, error, education and my own first signs of aging that there is a difference between an eye cream and a moisturizer and I am now a very big advocate for eye creams. Don’t get me wrong, in a pinch your regular moisturizer will work just fine but most eye creams are designed to be used around the sensitive eye area while facial moisturizers are just..not.
Ole Henricksen (pronounced ooh-la) is a Los Angeles based skin care guru who realizes that good skin care care can not only be effective but affordable. The Fresh Start Eye Cream is a good way to introduce yourself to his products. Fresh Start Eye Cream is a very rich and emollient eye cream loaded with Vitamins A, E, Grape Seed Oil, Avocado Oil and my favorite Hyaluronic Acid to battle dehydration (Having a problem with dehydration all over the face in general? Try this). It is safe for all skin types and is also safe for contact lens wearers. The texture is a little on the thick side in the jar but a little goes a long way with this cream and it just melts into the skin when applied leaving the eye area looking and feeling smooth and supple. Simply apply a small amount morning and night on clean skin and don’t forget your temples. This eye cream will also not affect any eye make up applied afterwards either and anything that won’t cause your make up to run and provides anti aging hydration is A O.K. in my book.
As for affordability, that’s what’s so awesome about this cream. It’s $38.00 for 1 oz. Most eye creams come only in a .50 oz size so this is twice the product for around the same price of other eye creams and as I said earlier you don’t need to use a lot so it will last you a good amount of time. The only down side is that it comes in a jar instead of a pump. The main reason I dislike jars is that you have to keep touching the product which can lead to bacteria contaminating the product.
What’s the solution?
Don’t touch it more that you need to. I use disposable tongue depressors to get products out of jars and not only will it keep out bacteria but I feel you waste less product that way. If that’s too much and you just have to scoop just make sure your fingers are clean and dry every time and if you find yourself with some cream still left over DON’T put it back in the jar. Apply the left over cream to the mouth and lip area. The skin around your mouth is very close in texture to the skin around your eyes I’ve seen eye creams work wonders for dehydration around the mouth.
So, if your currently not using a daily eye cream Ole Henrickson Fresh Start Eye Cream is a good way to start. Take it from me a former skeptic that eye cream is indeed needed in the battle against aging and that once you start to see the benefits of using a daily eye cream you will never want to go without again.
