It’s a Girl: Samantha Burke has Jude Law’s Baby

Man, it’s like baby season! Yesterday we heard about Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr, and now there’s a little Jude Law on the planet too.  According to the Los Angeles Times, actress-model Samantha Burke gave birth to a baby girl named Sophia on Tuesday night, just two months after Jude Law confirmed that he is indeed the kid’s father. Given her thin pedigree, it’s no surprise that Sophia weighed in at 5 pounds, 12 ounces.

Jude, 37,  and Samantha, 24, met while he was filming Sherlock Holmes in New York last year. When Samantha revealed that she was preggers with a little Jude, his rep said that they were no longer in a relationship (I wonder if they ever were!).  Jude will be financially supportive, but otherwise he has no plans to be involved in Sophia’s life. He also has three other children with his ex-wife Sadie Frost: sons Rafferty, 12, and Rudy, six, and daughter Iris, eight. 

“Samantha Burke is overwhelmed with joy at the arrival of her beautiful and healthy baby girl, Sophia,” said Eileen Koch, Samantha’s rep. “The baby and mom are doing wonderful.” There’s no word on whether Jude sent any sort of congratulatory booties – or moola.

Jude is currently playing Hamlet on Broadway; Sherlock Holmes will hit theaters on Christmas Day.
