A few years ago I was working at an apothecary that had one of the largest selections of men’s skin care in Los Angeles which had shelf after shelf of some of the fanciest skin care lines ever created. I brought home sample after sample, product after product, for my then boyfriend- now husband to try and I still couldn’t get him to use anything else but plain old Irish Spring on his face. That all changed when I brought home Barc Bump Down Razor Burn Relief Lotion.
Bump Down was originally created for specifically for men of color to combat excessive razor burn that can lead to noticeable scarring and discoloration on men with darker skin tones. What the creators of Barc weren’t expecting is that the ladies in their customers life would love it too. The packaging at first even had the words FOR MEN in huge bold letters across the front that has since been removed. The website is still super masculine and has some good shaving tips for men but Ladies, this is one of the best, most gentle razor burn products I have ever tried. From the Barc website:
Barc’s facial repair treatment reduces irritation and ingrown hair from shaving, preventing new bumps from occurring while healing old ones. Formulated with glycolic acid and triclosan, Bump Down is also enriched with chamomile extract and glycerin to calm your skin while leaving it moisturized.
Bump Down is alcohol free so it is safe to use anywhere you shave, tweeze or remove body hair including the bikini area with absolutely no irritation or painful burning sensation. It is unscented, but has a light chamomile scent at first that quickly dissipates. Within days of using this lotion I noticed a distinct reduction in underarm irritation and am now able to shave my underarms everyday instead of every other day. I am also prone to ingrown hairs along with my husband and since we’ve been using Barc the amount of ingrown hair “surgeries” we’ve done in the past are now over. This is a wonderful product for anyone who shaves, men and women alike.
