Jail is not usually an inspirational place for a fashion designer. Unless, of course, that designer is Project Runway Season 5 alumn, Kenley Collins. We all saw her craziness come out on the last few episodes of the season, so it’s no surprise Kenley would find inspiration behind bars.
Why was she in jail you might ask? For throwing a cat at her ex-fiancé.
Yep, you heard right, she threw a cat, among other things! OK, yes, Kenley is crazy, that’s no surprise. And given the talent she exhibited on the show, it’s really no surprise that her jailhouse-inspired collection is insane! Insane in a good way. Among other items to come out of her 2-day stint in jail, are a black and white striped dress (go figure) and the most amazing royal blue ball gown with mountains of exposed white tulle at the bottom.
She even showed at New York Fashion Week. With all that said, I’m just dying inside at giving this girl even a smidgeon of attention. Because I know she’s eating it up over there in her hip Brooklyn apartment, smirking at how savvy she thinks she is. Kenley was never shy about patting herself on the back for a job well done. So, it’s no wonder that she’s turning assault into positive press. Touche, Kenley. Well done.
