Jenny Slate of SNL Won’t Be Fired for F-Bomb (VIDEO)
Earlier this month, Saturday Night Live announced that it was dropping cast members Michaela Watkins and June Wilson and adding newcomers Jenny Slate and Nasim Pedrad. On Saturday’s season premiere (which was hosted by Megan Fox), Jenny Slate shocked everyone by dropping an f-bomb in a “Biker Chick Chat” segment with Kristen Wiig. Check out the video:
The infamous line was: ”You know what? You stood up for yourself, and I f—– love you for that.” Jenny sucked it up and kept going with the sketch, though I think the puffing of her cheeks indicates that she definitely realized her mistake and was embarrassed about it. (Plus, sources say she didn’t show up to the posh post-show party at Pranna on Madison Avenue.) Producers replaced Jenny’s colorful word with “freakin’” for West Coast airings.
According to the New York Daily News, NBC says that rumors that Jenny will be fired are completely false. The slip-up aired around 12:40 am, which is well into the time period that the FCC does not issue penalties for. Still, sources say that the suits weren’t exactly thrilled about the freshman’s mistake; I’ll bet they’ll be keeping an eye on Jenny for the next few episodes. Honestly, NBC should be happy that they’ve got America talking about a show that hasn’t been very funny (minus a couple digital shorts) in over 15 years.
