Three Custom Color Specialists started in an apartment in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City in 1997, with a small lip color custom blending service and a few ready to wear lip shades. Today, Three Custom Color Specialists Headquarters & Color Studio is located just off swanky 5th Avenue in NYC, with over 250 hand designed products for lips, eyes, cheeks and face, providing custom cosmetics to personal clients, retailers and offering consulting work with make-up artists around the world.
Perhaps the most exciting service Three Custom has to offer is their custom blending, where their Color Specialists can take your elusive favorite shade and blend an exact match. Never again will you have to settle for something “close” or waste your money on trying shades that just aren’t right. You can search the archives of over 9,000 discontinued shades from other brands, dating back to the 1930’s, and select yours from the bunch, or you can send Three Custom a sample, like a lipstick tube with just a nub, or a pot of can’t-get-anymore-out eyeshadow, and they can blend an exact match just for you.
You can also flex your creative muscle and blend your very own color. Just make sure you pick a sexually suggestive name for it, like Morning After the creme to powder blush I tried from Three Custom.
I’ve used cream blushes before, usually in stick form, and the problem with them is they stay wherever you put them. With most cosmetics, this is precisely what you want, but not with a blush- it makes you look like you belong in a Bingo hall, wearing a bedazzled baseball hat.
The pot of shockingly bright pink blush went on much more subtle, which gave me a rosey look, like I just came in from the winter weather. The creme feels like powder on your finger tips, powder on your cheeks, and applies just the same: its easy to correct and easy to blend so there are no mistakes. It also multitasks, giving your lips a nice punch of color if you mix it with clear lip stick.
Three Custom Color Specialists’ Creme to Powder Blush is a part of their Ready to Wear line, but each product feels like it was custom designed just for you.
