lauren-conrad-la-candy-1“I’ve had a good week,” Lauren Conrad told E Online. That’s a bit of an understatement; in addition to launching her new clothing line for Kohl’s, our fave reality BFF has just struck a deal to turn her novel LA Candy into a movie. Temple Hill Productions (the producers behind Twilight and the upcoming Dear John) have acquired screen rights to the book, which was published in June and has spent 14 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list.

Variety reports that the book tells the story of Jane Roberts, a 19-year-old who moves to Hollywood, quickly becomes a famous reality TV star and then has to deal with the ramifications of life in the spotlight. LC also plans to write two more books about the character.

“Lauren, who became an icon in that reality show world, came to us with a structure of how to tell the story in an interesting fashion that was separate and apart from the book,” producer Marty Bowen said. “We loved her take. Her book is an honest portrayal of what it must be like to set out to be normal, then sign on to become famous and eventually realize, wow, this isn’t at all what I’d planned for myself.”

A screenwriter will be hired to write the adaptation, but LC will be involved in the direction of the script as an executive producer. As for whether she’ll appear in the flick, Lauren says, “We’ve talked about doing a funny cameo. I would never be a main part or anything.”
