Ashley “A.J.” Jewell – the former fiance of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss – has died after suffering a severe head injury during a fight at an Atlanta strip club, E Online reports. “It appears he was involved in an altercation in the parking lot and he received a severe blow to the head,” said Atlanta police Lt. Keith Meadows.
Kandi, 33, is already going through a tough time, as her uncle Ralph Leslie also died recently; she is attending his funeral today. She did not make any statements, and there are no final details about A.J.’s death, according to what Kandi’s rep told US Weekly. Kandi did, however, reach out to her friends and fans on Twitter: “I could never in a million years imagine this happening. Please pray for A.J.’s children – that’s who I’m the most concerned for. I’m about to give my swollen eyes some rest now. I just wanted to say thanks (to everyone) for their prayers,” she wrote.
She added afterward: “im just in one of those moods where i dont wanna talk, i dont wanna b held & told its gonna b ok. i just wanna cry myself 2 sleep, alone.”
Kandi is a Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and mother of one. The second season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta had been following the couple’s plans to get married and merge their families (AJ leaves behind six children). Bravo released the following statement: “Our thoughts are with Kandi and A.J.’s family during this tragic time.”
