setofthree_cutoutCover your tushie in eco-friendly comfort with a new line of underwear from Uranus Apparel specially designed for women and made out of 100% biodegradeable soy. Soy fabric has many advantages besides being “green” as it’s said to be softer and more durable than cotton, warmer than wool, and quicker to dry and breathe. The fabric, which has been compared to silk and cashmere, is made from the by-products of soy food production (tofu and soybean oil) so it “closes the loop” on soy and takes no additional farming to create. Uranus Apparel undies are colored with 100% natural vegetable dyes and are machine washable and dryable (although be warned: they can shrink like cotton in high heat), plus they’re only packaging is a little burlap sack with a drawstring top that you can either reuse for something else or throw in your compost pile. What an all-around responsible product!

I only wish they had more style options as I’m not a big fan of the boyshort and that’s all that they offer right now. But they’re just getting started and I have a feeling they’re going to be growing by leaps and bounds in the future, so I’ll keep checking back — even if it’s only to get a laugh out of their slogan “Help Save Planet Earth Starting with Uranus.”
