I really thought that David Letterman’s juicy sex scandal had put a definitive end to people caring about the Kanye/Taylor/Beyonce of it all. Not so; Beyonce recently broke her silence about Kanye’s infamous mic-stealing at MTV’s Video Music Awards last month. According to People magazine, Beyonce says she understands why Kanye jumped up when Taylor won Best Female Video.
“Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he’s like, ‘You have this award,’” she told O: The Oprah Magazine editor-at-large Gayle King. “When they didn’t call my name he was, like, completely shocked,” Beyonce said. “And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!’ and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!’ ”
Oh, yes, yes yes. Luckily, Beyonce was able to use her Video of the Year win to graciously hand the mic back to Taylor. “In the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment – and I didn’t have to make an acceptance speech,” Beyonce said with a laugh.
Kanye has apologized for stealing Taylor’s moment, but he seems to be lying low. His “Fame Kills” tour with Lady Gaga set to launch November 10 has been cancelled with no explanation.
since when is Kanye (or Beyonce) anybody to tell other people what “art” is? Clearly some folks think Taylor Swift is art – and that’s FINE. I expected more from Beyonce, frankly. Kanye needs to go to rehab and get away from the fame game.
Beyonce’s video was ART, I mean have you watched it? Fantastic. Sure Kanye was rude and should no better, but he wasn’t wrong. Beyonce did deserve that award.
Why would anybody want to stand up for Kanye? Kanye only cares about Kanye. I just hope he stays retired and goes for sensitivity training someday. I find this writer was spot on :
