Soulja Boy Arrested

You can’t just Crank That wherever you want. That’s the lesson that police are trying to teach rapper Soulja Boy, who was arrested and charged with obstruction of justice after telling police that people gathered at an abandoned Georgia house were shooting a music video.

According to the Associated Press, Henry County Police Captain Jason Bolton said that when officers arrived Wednesday night to investigate complaints, almost half of the 40 people chilling at the house booked it – on foot. Later, 19 year-old Soulja Boy (whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way) came back and said the group was shooting a video.

Soulja Boy was charged with obstruction and bonded out of the Henry County jail yesterday. His publicist could not be reached for comment. The rapper, whose hits include “Crank That” and “Kiss Me Thru the Phone,” made headlines recently when rumors began to swirl about the possibility of his engagement to girlfriend Rosa Acosta.

I wonder if they really were shooting a music video, or if it was all a ruse? If they were, don’t you think that Soulja Boy would have done it officially with a real director and location permits and all that? When the police show up and 20 people start sprinting away, something’s up.
