Michael Jackson’s music continues to live on – and in this case, it’s brand new music. According to MSNBC, the late singer’s new song “This Is It” was released online today, the first from an upcoming documentary by the same name.
It’s a mid-tempo song featuring MJ’s usual breathy style. His brothers provide backing vocals, giving the song a bit of a vintage vibe. There is also backing from an orchestra. “This is it,” MJ sings in one verse. “Here I stand. The light of the world. I feel grand.” It’s a bit creepy and tragic, isn’t it?
The song is played during the closing sequences of the movie, which will hit theaters on October 28 for a limited two-week run. The documentary features rehearsal footage of MJ that was filmed shortly before his death on August 25.
You can download the song on MJ’s official website, or wait to hear it on your local radio station. It will also be included in a two-disc set that will come out the same time as the movie. Oh, those clever marketing people. Death is such a cash cow, isn’t it?
I wonder if MJ will follow the 2Pac afterlife plan and make more money dead than alive? Check out the track below:
