Dating a Drug Lord: Yovanna Guzman was “Dazzled” By Luxuries (VIDEO)

Lots of girls date bad boys, but Yovanna Guzman took it to the next level: a drug lord. According to CNN, the former beauty queen and model was the lover of one of Colombia’s most ruthless cocaine traffickers, Wilber Varela.  Check out a video interview in which she describes how they met:

Yovanna knew about Wilber’s reputation for brutality, but she didn’t see him that way; “It’s like he had two faces,” she explained. ”I saw him so tender with the ones he loved, then you see the cartel killings. He always said he was the best of friends and the worst of enemies,” she said. Yovanna was 19 when she met Wilber, who told her he was a cattle rancher. She only found out his real identity when she saw his face on a Wanted poster.

The Colombian government accused Wilber of trafficking cocaine to the United States via Central America in speedboats and to Europe in small jets. Authorities put a $5 million bounty on his head, and until he was captured in 2007, he was listed alongside Osama bin Laden on the FBI’s list of the 10 most-wanted fugitives.

“There were the vacations, the cars and the luxury SUVs and, of course, jewelry. There was always jewelry. But there were small details too like flowers,” she said. “Of course, the luxuries don’t make you fall in love, but they do dazzle you. When you get dazzled, you get carried away, but then you ask yourself where is the love and my principles?”
