Garth Brooks is dusting off his cowboy boots – and heading to Sin City. According to Reuters, the country sensation (and best-selling solo musician in US history) has announced that he’s coming out of retirement for an extended concert run at the Wynn Las Vegas casino and hotel.
“I know this is a young industry, so I’m not sure I’ll be welcomed back but, if the fans want me, I still want to pursue my music,” he told reporters at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. I’m not a big country fan myself, but I’m pretty sure there are going to be plenty of people lining up to see him.
Garth, 47, officially retired in 2001, saying he would devote himself to his three daughters at his home in Oswasso, Oklahoma, until his youngest turned 18. She is 13 now. He’s actually resurfaced a couple times in those last eight years, performing occasionally between 2005 and 2007 and making a deal with Wal-Mart. But you can’t really expect a man with two Grammys, 11 Country Music Association awards and 113 million albums sold (in the US alone) to stay away from his guitar - or his adoring fans.
Wynn Resorts Ltd said in a statement it would be announcing a new music schedule. The hotel’s Encore Theater has not had a permanent headliner since the death of comedian Danny Gans last May.

Best selling solo musician in US history? are Elvis & MJ somehow not counted? Seems a little suspect if you ask me.
