This article as perfect!! I hate being asked out for the reason of having to say no. I've even been the girl to go on the date because I didn't know how to say no...or didn't want to hurt his feelings. It turns out that most guys can handle a simple, polite "no" very well. Most...:)

A very polite "Thank you, but no" or some equivalent variation is perfect. It's not pleasant to hear, but it's not cruel. What is cruel is being strung along and having your time wasted.

I'm a guy, believe me on this point...

as a single guy, I must say this is very good advice. now, I can't speak for all of manhood -- nor would i want to -- but for me a firm and polite denial saves me from pro-longed drama, heartache and, yes, hope -- oh what a double edged sword that can be.

and the guys who can't take no for an answer? well, you can only imagine where that relationship is going to go. so, so long as you don't mind hurting the feelings of a few douchebags, deny, deny away. it'll save us all a lot of trouble.
