The wait is ova! Rihanna’s new single “Russian Roulette” is up on her website, Rihannanow.com – click to listen to it! The dark ballad, which was written and produced by Ne-Yo, is slow and haunting, opening with a wailing guitar and ending with a single gunshot. Her new album, Rated R, will hit stores November 23.

It sounds as though 21 year-old Rihanna can relate to the lyrics, which describe sticking around in a turbulent relationship. “You can see my heart beating/You can see it through my chest/I’m terrified, but I’m not leaving/Know that I must pass this test,” she sings on the chorus, “So just pull the trigger.” Rihanna split from BF Chris Brown earlier this year after he was arrested for beating her.

According to Rolling Stone, the song also reflects Rihanna’s interest in guns; she had a tiny gun tattooed on her side in March. The single’s artwork is similarly intense, featuring the singer tied up in chains. And if you’re excited to see what other kinds of outfits this will translate into, Rihanna was spotted with director Anthony Mandler this weekend shooting the “Russian Roulette” video, which will debut in primetime on ABC at an unspecified time.
