The response level to local and national disasters is awesome but it's a damn shame that so many citizens take advantage of the sad situations.

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill - there's always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.

This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys "angels" got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!

Its so sad how Some Of those old farts would rather this sweet little girl in foster Care than being with her Grandparents.DO you know what foster Care does to kids? I understand they broke the rules but whatever happened to compassion?Especially in this recession, we need to stop thinking about ourselves and think about others, we need to help eachother out.

There's been a lot of input from a lot of people on a lot of websites over this mess. I feel bad for this family, but most of the commentary I've seen has ignored some very simple facts (largely because most of the articles I've seen about this story neglect to mention them). So, for your consideration:

1. Communities like the one in the spotlight here have contracts that residents must sign, and bylaws that must be obeyed. This poor little girl's grandparents are contractually obligated to live by these rules, and considering that their daughter has a history of drug problems they should have thought twice before moving into a community that would not welcome people under the age of 55 if they ever wanted to provide a haven for their child or grandchild.

2. When they took custody of Kimberly, the Stottlers should have immediately begun the process of selling their home in this community, instead of waiting for a couple of years before it became painfully clear that their neighbors don't find this little girl as cute as they do. Their decision to wait cost them the chance to sell in a much more friendly market.

3. Kimberly has lived with her grandparents for five years; the house has been on the market for something closer to two years, which coincides closely enough with the beginning of the lawsuit to suggest that the two are related. The homeowners' association and the Stottlers' neighbors have already shown remarkable patience and forebearance in waiting so long to begin legal actions, and now their generosity has reached its limits.

It's time for people to stop pissing and moaning about the 'monsters' who are doing this to a little girl and recognize that the Stottlers have been and remain in the wrong. This situation is of their making, and if you really care so much about them and their granddaughter, organize a fundraiser to help them move.
