barbi-twins-1With so many charitable causes competing for money and attention, you have to be creative. According to Fox News, Twins Shane and Sia Barbi – former Playboy pin-ups – have retired from Hollywood and are trying to stand out in their animal activism. Sometimes they go a bit overboard; their Saturday morning cartoon was banned for being too sexy. Their documentary “Your Mommy Kills Animals” was deemed “too controversial.” And their MTV special was canceled for being inappropriate.

Still, the long-haired ladies aren’t going to give up. Later this year, Shane and Sia, the Willie Nelson family, Bo Derek, and other celebrities will go to Washington DC to lobby for the federal bill to ban horse slaughter and preserve the few wild horses remaining in this country.

Willie Nelson’s daughter Amy, another activist, recently did a wacky interview with the girls. “I think we were good role models for the recession because we started the cheap look,” Shane said. “That made us popular gag gifts.” She also talked about the new American pastime of getting famous for no reason: “Basically we were infamous, mostly because we can’t act, sing or dance. In the beginning I remember saying, mom, dad, there’s good news and bad news….the good news, I guess, is that we are pretty famous, but the bad news is, we are famous for nothing!”

Luckily, their celebrity is good for the animals. ”The good part is we put our car-accident-circus-freak 7 and-a-half minutes of fame towards animal causes,” Shane said.

FINALLY!!! Someone that can make fun and themselves, not take themselves seriously and put it all for good causes! Wow, that is refreshing. Good for the twins and Willie Nelson's daughter!
