I think Disney has gone a little far with making engagement rings based on characters. Of course the payoff on these is probably about 15 years out when the little girls grow up and have dreamed about these rings for years.

When I read the headline, I expected to see the Disney Princess image engraved in the bands or embedded in the faux stones but these rings are very beautiful.

vDisney just may have made what on paper seems like a very smart move. After all, millions of people get married year after year. But will fans of “The Little Mermaid” be willing to spend money on their bridal jewelry in such a tough economic time? With the popularity of the less expensive metals for wedding bands growing, I am not so sure if that generation will be spending much on wedding jewelry in general. Well, maybe the women will, so perhaps Disney has made a good move. Their new jewelry does look very nice.

Disney entering the bridal jewelry market is an interesting way to extend their brand. Is this move because the wedding industry is generally thought of as being recession-proof? Guess time will tell. But let’s not get all Goofy about this!!!
