College is tough. Classes, extracurriculars, binge drinking, figuring out who you are…wait a minute, no it isn’t. Remember naps between classes? Staying up late every night? I wish I had appreciated it when I was there. Charley Cooper, a sophomore at Georgetown University, is having a rough time getting everything done. According to MSNBC, he’s looking for a personal assistant to help him with everyday tasks – organizing his closet, dropping him off and picking him up from work, scheduling haircuts, putting gas in the car and taking it in for service, managing his electronic accounts and doing laundry.
Okay, I admit that it would be nice to have someone to do all these things. I always put off laundry until the last possible second…but hiring a personal assistant? Some people have a lot to accomplish, but it sounds a bit to me like Charley is just lazy.
The lucky PA will make $10 to $12 an hour, although “on occasion it will be possible to work additional hours and/or receive bonuses at my discretion,” Charley said in the job listing. Preference will be given to Georgetown undergraduates, and the assistant can spread his or her tasks throughout the day.
What do you guys think? Is Charley a spoiled rich kid, or should people be allowed to do whatever they want with their money? He would be adding a new job to the horrible job market. And the sad thing is…I’m sure he’s already gotten hundreds of replies.
