Sears and Wal-Mart Already Offering Black Friday Deals

Halloween hasn’t even happened yet, right? Or did I OD on candy so hardcore that I passed out and woke up on Thanksgiving? Because Sears, Wal-Mart and a few other stores are already talking about their Black Friday deals. Usually Black Friday is limited to the day after Thanksgiving, November 27–which is almost a month away. But with the recession in full swing (do you ever wonder if it might go away if people just stopped talking about it and started spending their money?), Sears has decided to get a head start on the deals tomorrow, Friday October 30.

According to the Huffington Post, Sears doorbuster will offer what it calls “Black Friday doorbuster deals” beginning this Friday, and the offers will rotate each week and be available 7 a.m.- noon each Saturday. Since this Friday is the kickoff, there will be even more special markdowns. Some of this week’s deals include 50% off Craftsman® 302-piece mechanic’s tool sets, 50% off all DieHard work boots and $79.99 3/8 ct. tw. diamond stud earrings.

Famously cheap Wal-Mart started their own Black Friday-esque price-slashing last week too. The retailer marked down a variety of holiday staples and gifts, discounting a popular skateboard/snowboard called the RipStick by 27 percent, to $49. Kmart has also been heavily promoting layaway this year, which allows shoppers a chance to pay for their gifts over time. Meanwhile, the trendier Target is featuring “daily deals” on their website, which you can find out about via e-mail alerts.
