Will American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert prove that you don’t have to win to make it big? We’re about to find out, since the spiky-haired songbird debuted his first single “For Your Entertainment” on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this morning. Click here to listen to the interview - and here’s the song:
An excited Adam advised listeners: “Turn it up. Really loud, guys. I know it’s early, but turn it up. I think this is just in time for Halloween. I think it’s a real fun number.” What do you guys think? I think it’s pretty fabulous, though I’m not sure how many times I could handle its fabulousness.
The song comes from his debut album of the same name, which is due out November 23. “It’s dance music with a glam-rock shuffle beat,” Adam explained. As for the rest of the album, he says, “there are songs that fit into the kind of electro, kinda pop feel like this one, and then there are songs on the album that have guitars, live drums, you know, real rock sounds. I just kind of wanted to create an eclectic collection – so hopefully everybody likes it. There’s something for every mood.”
The shimmery album cover, which features Lambert in massive guyliner, dreamily staring off, has fired up a lot fo critics. But he stands behind it, calling it “deliberately campy.” He told Ryan, “It really wasn’t mean to be taken all that seriously. My hope was that when you looked at it you would laugh and smile.” I think it’s hilarious!

My opinion? The fact that my heel is actually bruised from tapping to the dang song (Thank you, tiled flooring!) is proof in itself that ‘For Your Entertainment’ will dominate both the music charts and DJs’ playlists across the globe. I love everything about this track – it’s an original, 2009′d spin on Glamrock that has the ability to make you recite the lyrics non-stop and shake your booty! Simply incredible.
