Pop star Rihanna may only be 21, but she’s already lived an entire Lifetime movie, and that’s saying something. After being the victim of domestic abuse by boyfriend Chris Brown, she has bounced back to release her new album Rated R (have you heard the haunting first single, “Russian Roulette?”), and also to help speak for other women who have experienced what she’s gone through.
In her new Glamour exclusive, Rihanna discusses the overwhelming media frenzy surrounding the Chris Brown situation. ”I went to sleep as Rihanna and woke up as Britney Spears,” she said. And although her friends and family were supportive, she says that “at some point you are there alone. It’s a lonely place to be—no one can understand. That’s when you get close to God.”
She was especially hurt by the leaked picture of her bruised face. “It was humiliating; that is not a photo you would show to anybody,” she said. ”I felt completely taken advantage of. I felt like people were making it into a fun topic on the Internet, and it’s my life. I was disappointed, especially when I found out the photo was [supposedly leaked by] two women.”
Now she’s prepared to move on in her career, and her life. “I’m stronger, wiser and more aware,” she said. Keep rocking, Rihanna! We love you!

it really is too bad (and quite unfortunate) that her picture leaked. I could see how that could be humiliating, especially for someone who had just gone through such a tragic, confusing and upsetting experience as she just had. it's good though that she's talking about it. bringing attention to the issue. as shitty as it is, things aren't going to change unless people keep talking about domestic abuse.
