Today Is National Men Make Dinner Day?!

male-chef-1There seems to be an endless list of fake holidays — from National Talk Like a Pirate Day to National Hugging Day and so on, but today marks one that might actually be pretty fun to celebrate: National Men Make Dinner Day.

According to the holiday’s official website, the day is not for the man who makes dinner on any sort of regular basis, but, rather, for the man who “helps with household chores, has a sense of humor and is a great all-around guy, loves his wife/girlfriend, kids and pets…BUT NEVER LEARNED HOW TO COOK, and is somewhat afraid of the idea.”

Do you guys have husbands or boyfriends like this? (I am sadly single and don’t have a man in my life, much less a man to cook for me.) Do you think it’s worth bugging them to try and learn how to turn on the oven and use measuring cups? Maybe they would discover they actually LIKE cooking. And guys who can cook are hot, right? I watch “Top Chef”, and it’s not just for the high-stakes competition. Can you say Voltaggio brothers??

If you’re afraid to bring up the subject of National Men Make Dinner Day with your guy, you might send him a slightly passive aggressive e-card from Someecards.com or BlueMountain.com. Or maybe just stop cooking and see what happens. Hunger? Him cooking? A reservation at your favorite place?

pretty narrow definition, yes? me thinks the holiday’s creator is projecting just a tad (i.e. hate to be her husband!)
