Winter is killer on the lips, here in Los Angeles cold, lip-chapping weather is just around the corner (yes, it’s still hot) I can feel it in my lips. For all of us who suffer from chapped, flaky, cracking lips in the coming months, I’m sure one of these treatments will help you to soothe the burn. These are my top five favorite lip treatments. They are in no particular order, but if you are like me and you want a little variety, you may want to check out a few.

Clinique Superbalm Lip Treatment

I used this at my wedding and it saved my lips by keeping them smooth and hydrated all day long. It can be used as a nighttime treatment or worn throughout the day as a super shiny gloss. The consistency is a little thick, but not too bad if you are a regular lip gloss user.

Murad Energizing Pomegranate Lip Protector

murad-lips-1

This is a pink tinted lip balm with a glossy finish that tastes and smells like yummy pomegranates. Furthermore, the consistency is light and not very sticky. This one really helps with flaking and elasticity around the mouth, also pomegranates are packed with anti-oxidants so there are some anti-aging properties to this balm as well.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15

I really like this lip treatment even though it is a little too expensive. This is more like your traditional chapstick, but it comes in a really cool container. Also, it is SPF-15 and it can give a slight plumping effect. The finish is semi-matte and can be worn under lipstick. Beware: this one melts easily in heat though. Do not leave it the car.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve

rosebud-1

I’ve used Rosebud Salve since I was a kid and it came in that little square tin that you could never open. It comes in an easier to open tub now, but the formula is the same as it’s been for the last 100 years. Not only can you use it as a lip treatment, but it also works well on minor burns, diaper rash and on dry elbows and knees as well.

Caudalie Lip Conditioner

This balm is the lightest of the group. If you don’t like the feel of heavy balms you might like this one. It is a stick lip balm that is light enough to work under or over lipstick. This isn’t for someone with seriously dry lips however, but if you just need a little moisture this one is a good choice. Warning: this sick is white and can leave your lips looking a little pale if you over do it.

This is a great, to the point review of a bunch of lip treatments that I want to try now (except for Rose Bud - not into petroleum products)! Thank you!
