Let’s hope the courts do not realize the employee might be stupid, like the decision the court made and require the employer to put him through college too.

I thought this story was going to say that the pizza store had to pay because they gave the employee access to unlimited pizza, thereby contributing to his obesity.

I agree it was a pre-existing condition and employer should not pay. If the patient wants the surgery to be effective he should bear the responsibility of restoring himself to a healthy weight.

solution is simple: get employers out of the business of insurance. makes no sense. they should be concerned with hiring the most qualified employees, not with who is healthy or not.
