Geisy Arruda, a student at Bandeirante University in Brazil, was expelled recently for wearing a too-tiny pink mini skirt to class.

Brazilians are known for wearing sexy and revealing clothes, but not usually quite to this extreme, especially on college campuses. Arruda apparently showed up for class in her short skirt and created quite a stir, getting heckled by hundreds of fellow classmates and inspiring a mob of sorts that followed her through the hallway.

She must have a pretty negative history with the school because the university not only expelled her for the dress-code infraction, but actually went so far as to take advertisements out against her in the Sunday paper later that week citing her “inadequate clothing” and provocative attitude as, “incompatible with the university environment.” She had to get escorted through the taunting crowd and off the school campus by police.

We must not be getting the whole story here because why on earth would a school take out an advertisement against a student in a public paper? Just expel her and be done with it. The school is either really desperate to get their side of the story out there or they’re totally immature and vindictive. Either way, good grief.

You have to admit that there is usually a double standard. If a man wore crotch-revealing clothing in a school environment, he'd probably be accused of sexual harassment or at least public indecency. But you're just supposed to roll your eyes if a woman wears something that makes a lot of people uncomfortable.

^ what are you talking about? this girl just got expelled and an ad in the paper written against her. and she wasn't even revealing her crotch, like the man in yr above example. double standard indeed.
