When did vegans get so hot? The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez and his wife October will appear in PETA’s latest anti-fur ads. Not only are they not wearing fur — they’re not wearing anything! “We’d rather go naked than wear fur,” the ad reads.
The Hall of Fame-bound athlete professes a vegan lifestyle, and he wants everyone to see that the absence of meat from his diet hasn’t hurt his physique. Clearly not! Check out those shoulders! And arms! And…okay, I’m done.
Tony says that he and his wife “have changed many of our habits in light of the inhumane treatment of animals that occurs not only in the fur industry but also on factory farms.”
The diet seems to be a fountain of youth for Tony, 33, who is in his 13th season, making him the NFL’s longest-tenured starting tight end. ”It’s clean eating, from a 100% grass-fed source,” he said. ”You have to put good stuff in your body. Everybody should, but especially athletes. We’re high-performance machines. You wouldn’t put regular gas in a race car. You’d be surprised by how many players don’t do it. But I’ve seen the results.”
Other athletes and celebrities that have bared it all for PETA include Eva Mendes, Pamela Anderson, Tommy Lee and Dennis Rodman.
