miley-cyrus-1The Virginia State Police are reporting a tour bus belonging to Miley Cyrus overturned this morning, killing one person. Miley, however, was not on board.

According to The Baltimore Sun:

Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the bus overturned around 8:15 this morning on Interstate 85, about 40 miles south of Richmond. The police did not identify those aboard, but one person was killed and another sustained minor injuries. Miley is still is scheduled to perform on Sunday in Greensboro, N.C.

Ten people were on board the bus when it went off the road and overturned. All ten are members of the singer’s production lighting crew, and many of them were asleep at the time of the crash. The survivors exited the wreckage through the front windshield.

Sources cannot say for sure where Miley was at the time of the accident, but it is known that she was nowhere near the scene of the crash. State Police are not confirming the identities of the injured, but CBS 6 was told that the person who died was the driver of the bus.

VSP says the roads were wet from heavy rain Thursday night, but they are not blaming the weather for the crash. I-85 south remains closed at this time and traffic is being re-routed on to the shoulder. Clean up is expected to take at least two hours and the investigation is ongoing.
