Susan Boyle Interview & Performance on The TODAY Show (VIDEO)

It’s been a crazy seven months for Susan Boyle, who has gone from a dowdy nobody to a confident singer whose new album is the biggest Amazon.com preorder of all time. Cheering fans stood in the cold outside Rockefeller Center in New York this morning as Susan told The Today Show’s Matt Lauer about her incredible journey. Check out the video:

“I’ve grown up a bit. I’ve become more of a lady. I don’t swivel my hips as much, you know?” she said. But she’s still modest, still surprised to have been swept up in her newfound fame.

“You’re one of the most talked-about, one of the most Googled, one of the most Internet-viewed women on the planet,” Matt said.

“It feels very surreal, as if it’s not really happening,” she said with a chuckle.

Her new album, the aptly titled I Dreamed a Dream, includes eleven cover songs and one original, including the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses,” and Madonna’s “You’ll See,” which Susan says is an answer to all the teachers and bullies who beat and tormented her as a child. “That was a statement I was trying to make, because I was bullied a lot at school: ‘You may have done that to me when I was younger, but you can’t do it to me anymore. I’m grown up now,’ ” she said.
