Adrenaline, sequins and a little sibling rivalry – that’s how season nine of Dancing with the Stars ended as Donny Osmond was awarded the trophy.
“I beat Marie!” he exclaimed on Good Morning America, speaking of his sister and former contestant Marie Osmond. “I am really proud of this. I am the oldest recipient of the Mirror Ball Trophy.”
The 51 year-old was up against younger contestants Mya and Kelly Osbourne, who also appeared on GMA to talk about last night’s finale. “We’re running on adrenaline,” Donny said. “We’re competitors but we’re best friends.”
Donny joked that his three biggest memories from his big win are the look on professional partner Kym Johnson’s face, kissing his wife, and letting sister Marie Osmond hold the trophy. He said he planned to put the trophy “at the top of my house with a spotlight on it.”
Marie was already a bit tired of Donny’s giant ego. ”We are all so proud of you,” she said. “You won! Let’s never talk about this again.”
Kelly may have only placed third, but she was happy, and so was I, since she gives hope to us curvy girls. After the winner was announced at the finale, she ran up to her dad and gave him a huge hug. Adorable!
