I’m obsessed with breakfast food and talk about it every chance that I can. I mean, we even did a granola giveaway on Twirlit because basically breakfast is the best thing ever!
Well, the folks over at Grandy Oats Organic Granola sent over their granola for us to review and here’s a bit of information about this well-established brand. The Grandy Oats Organic Granola company has been around since 1979 and is the nation’s ONLY line of 100% organic granola which they make by hand in small batches. And most recently, they’ve launched a new packaged product: Goji Agave Granola which has 27 grams of whole grains per serving and is sweetened with low-glycemic agave nectar and blueberry juice. It also contains goji berries, cranberries, jumbo raisins, oats, sunflower seeds, oat bran, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, unsweetened coconut, vanilla and sea salt. Other flavors include Low Fat Cranberry Chew, Original flavor, and Mainely Maple.
I was psyched when I received the organic granola which comes in a BPA-free plastic, reusable, dishwater-safe and environmentally-friendly plastic container because I’ll obviously use it over and over again. So, now we know that this granola is organic and green, what’s the verdict on taste? Its sweet but not TOO sweet, crunchy, and I had to portion it out so I don’t eat half the container in one sitting. (I am known to do this)
I actually prefer eating my granola mixed with a cup of greek yogurt which provides that extra protein punch to keep you full. And I absolutely loved the taste though the downside is probably eating too much in one sitting. The granola is tasty, but clocks in at 230 calories and 7 grams of fat for a 1/2 cup serving, so be aware of your portion size.
All in all, I think you should give Grandy Oats a whirl if you’re looking for a new brand of granola to try. I can tell you that at $4.99 per package, I’ll be ordering another…just as soon as I’m done devouring this one.
