Philosophy products are always a hit or miss with me, so when I got a sample of Hope In A Tube Eye and Lip Cream I thought nothing of it. Still, when I got home I decided to give it a whirl, intrigued by its mother of pearl coloring. Before that, though, a quick visit to the Philosophy website explained what benefits “Hope In A Tube” claimed to deliver. It stated:

“Hope In A Tube Eye and Lip Firming Cream serves as a moisturizer and anti-wrinkle treatment for the eyes and lips. The high density, unique consistency of the formula provides immediate skin smoothing benefits… incorporates a synergistic blend of both topical vitamins e and c to help firm and revitalize the delicate skin around the eyes and lips.”

Personally, I found the “high density unique consistency” to be slightly tacky, and really thick, so I felt like I used a bit more cream than I would normally use. As for the color, it is noticeably luminescent and shimmery which can reflect light away from fine lines and dark circles, making them less noticeable. The first day I tried it, I didn’t wear any make up, so while the skin around my eyes and lips felt good and looked smooth, it wasn’t until I wore it under make up that I really saw the benefits.

Under my concealer and foundation, “Hope In A Tube” really brightened the skin beneath my eyes, and made the discoloration much less noticeable. The area around my mouth looked smooth too, but it wasn’t as big of a difference as under my eyes. Overall, my eyes looked really awake and well rested and my concealer blended over it easily.

That said, while I like how this cream works as a cosmetic, I wouldn’t personally use this as my only eye cream. Yes, while the Vitamin C and E are beneficial, “Hope In A Tube” just doesn’t have enough anti-aging oomph for me. I have a bottle now for special occasions and have not had any problems layering it over my regular eye cream, but it hasn’t yet made into my daily regiment. I’ve also used it over my make up, lightly patting it around the mouth to brighten up throughout the day. That works well.
