Tiger Woods can’t seem to get out of this bunker. He crashed his Escalade near his Florida home early Friday morning, and has since remained very cryptic about the details. According to CNN, though, state police are continuing to investigate the single-car crash today, after Tiger canceled a third interview with investigators.
The 33-year-old golf superstar suffered minor injuries in the accident, which took place in his luxury neighborhood near Orlando. In a statement issued Sunday afternoon on his website, Tiger offered no details of his wreck, except to say he had cuts and bruises and was “pretty sore.”
“This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me,” he said. “I’m human, and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.”
That could very well be the whole story: that he’s just embarrassed and doesn’t want the media to hound him about it. Still, rumors are swirling. What was he doing out so late on a Thursday night? Are there problems between him and his wife? And what everyone is wondering: Is there a mistress in the picture?
A story in last week’s National Enquirer alleged that Tiger has been seeing a New York night club hostess, but the woman has denied any affair to The Associated Press. She’s also apparently hired attorney Gloria Allred. Some people think that’s a red flag, but that publication also talks about alien babies. Come on! Give Tiger the benefit of the doubt.
Leave this man alone. Tiger has hurt no one except himself and if he is having marital difficulties, it is his business and no one elses. Just because he is a super star does not mean that he has to share his private life with the whole world. Let it go and he will work it out.
He’s done himself no favors by being so cryptic about it all. Had he just addressed the issue right away it would already be out of the headlines and fading in the rear view mirror….
