For those of us who desperately miss Friends (I love How I Met Your Mother, but it’s not quite the same), you’ll get a chance to see Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox reunited on ABC’s Cougar Townon January 16. It’s only one-third of our fave BFFs, but I’ll take what I can get!
Entertainment Weekly reports that instead of being friendly with each other, Lisa and Courteney will actually get into a bit of a tiff on the show. “They didn’t want to play friends,” said executive producer Bill Lawrence, who came up with a much different role for Lisa. “She plays a dermatologist who is a horrible, horrible person, but [Courteney] goes to her because she’s the best. The [sight] of them playing people who dislike each other intensely was very funny for me to watch.”
We’ve all seen the bitchy-but-brilliant doctor thing work on House, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out in a sitcom. Cougar Town hasn’t gotten the critical acclaim of ABC’s other new comedy, Modern Family, but it’s holding its own in the new Wednesday lineup, which will soon include the revitalized Ugly Betty. And of course, everyone pretty much agrees that Courteney Cox is fabulous.
