On a recent trip to Sally’s Beauty Supply I picked up some packets of Ion Extreme Moisture Nurturing Creme. It was on sale and I have used a couple of products from the Ion line before and thought they were okay products for the price. I figured, for 99 cents a packet, I may as well try it out.
Ion is a line made exclusively for Sally’s and is an inexpensive alternative to some of the pricier hair care lines. I’ve used the Ion Repair Solutions Hair Reconstructor Treatment many times and, while it’s not my absolute favorite, it does help with mild breakage. In all honesty, though, I wasn’t expecting much from this conditioning creme.
I was wrong. This is the best Ion product I’ve tried yet! The conditioner is so thick it’s almost a paste. One packet was enough to coat my hair, but I used two because I’m greedy. I then left it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. (Note: you can also add heat to really deep condition, but I still noticed a big difference even without.) Afterward my hair was instantly detangled, and soft as silk, even while still wet. Needless to say, combing it was a breeze.
Blow drying was quick and easy too, and almost no frizz. I probably even could have been just fine with not using my flat iron, which, until now, was only achievable by professionals. Furthermore, it was shiny and soft and full of body. When I was done using the iron my hair practically sparkled. It smelled amazing and was as bouncy as a Pantene commercial.
This conditioner is good for anyone with dry, damaged, dehydrated, thick, course or curly hair, especially if you heat style it regularly. Keep in mind, though, this conditioner is way to heavy for fine hair unless you have a lot of damage or regularly bleach your hair. Actually, I’m really curious how it would work on really bleached hair.
All said and done, I am definitely investing in a large bottle of this conditioner. I’ll probably use it as a once a week treatment, but it just might become my new regular conditioner. In fact, my hair looks so good right now that I almost want to wash and condition my hair again just to see what happens.
