Tiger Woods Named Athlete of the Decade by AP

tiger-woods-1The embarrassment that is Tiger Woods is a gift that keeps on giving! According to the Chicago Sun-Times, our favorite womanizing golfer has been named Athlete of the Decade by the Associated Press. I guess when you think about the entire decade, this scandal has only been a small part of it — and it doesn’t really change the fact that he’s an amazing golfer.

Tiger has dominated the sport over the last ten years, winning 56 PGA Tours and 12 majors. These honors led voters to choose him over other athletes like Lance Armstrong, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick and Michael Phelps. In fact, the competition wasn’t even close, with Tiger earning 56 of the 142 votes.

What do you gals think? Even beyond the philandering, does Tiger deserve the honor? Are his achievements more impressive than those of Michael Phelps? I admit I’m not a sports buff…but think about it. When it comes to golf, Tiger is THE household name. I bet the if you asked the average American about golf, they’d be able to name Tiger, and…not many others.

This honor isn’t the first awkward news headline since Tiger’s public image has been shattered. He was recently featured on the cover Golf Digest, along with a story in which he doled out advice to President Barack Obama.
