So You Think You Can Dance, the rebellious younger cousin of Dancing with the Stars, aired its season six finale last night. Who was named America’s favorite dancer?
SPOILER ALERT: According to Entertainment Weekly, Russell Ferguson took the title. It wasn’t a huge shock, since the 20-year-old from Boston, who describes himself as “real, raw, rugged and gutta,” has been a clear fan favorite from the start. He suffered a leg injury that held him back early on in the program, but he powered through and danced on adrenaline.
Leona Lewis, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert also performed in the jam-packed finale, which featured the gradual elimination of the other five finalists: Ashleigh Di Lello and husband Ryan Di Lello, Ellenore Scott, Jacob Karr and Kathryn. Who were your favorites? Do you think Russell deserved to win? Judge Nigel put him in the bottom four in the first week of Top 20 competition, but, otherwise, the judges seemed to continually love the “unpolished gem.” They also seem to reward growth: Mary Murphy said, “Russell, you are just so special. I have not seen someone grow in six seasons as much as you have.”
As the winner of So You Think You Can Dance, Russell will grace the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine.

I have read several posts about why people thought Russell should have won over Jacob....boy was I shocked...While everyone thought Jacob was the best dancer - they didn't vote for him because they didn't think he had any personality. Wow, when did this show become a popularity contest? This is why they need to take who wins away from the voting public...they don't actually get the concept of the show. American Idol is a perfect example of this...remember Taylor Hicks or Rubben Studder? Didn't think so, no one bought their cd's and so they were dropped from the lable...it's truly sad that the voting public think they are still in high school and it's about who's the most popular...shame on you!!!!

It is AMERICA's FAVORITE Dance contest not AMERICA's Best Dancer. Russell was the favorite by a landslide...the joy he showed will performing, oozed out of him...What a performer...He deserved the win. What a humble and incredible young man.

Yes, from the very moment he stepped on that stage I knew that he would be in the finale. Yes I do think that he deserved to win and so did America and all the people that voted for the young man from Boston!
