Who was named America’s favorite dancer?

SPOILER ALERT: According to Entertainment Weekly, Russell Ferguson took the title. It wasn’t a huge shock, since the 20-year-old from Boston, who describes himself as “real, raw, rugged and gutta,” has been a clear fan favorite from the start. He suffered a leg injury that held him back early on in the program, but he powered through and danced on adrenaline.

Leona Lewis, Mary J. Blige, Jennifer Lopez and Adam Lambert also performed in the jam-packed finale, which featured the gradual elimination of the other five finalists: Ashleigh Di Lello and husband Ryan Di Lello, Ellenore Scott, Jacob Karr and Kathryn. Who were your favorites? Do you think Russell deserved to win? Judge Nigel put him in the bottom four in the first week of Top 20 competition, but, otherwise, the judges seemed to continually love the “unpolished gem.” They also seem to reward growth: Mary Murphy said, “Russell, you are just so special. I have not seen someone grow in six seasons as much as you have.”

As the winner of So You Think You Can Dance, Russell will grace the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine.
