Having style is not a prerequisite for celebrity. Case in point, Sarah Silverman. A rogue when it comes to her comedy and her fashion — only one of which is actually funny — she’s certainly never claimed to be a glamour girl. But, denim cut-offs, a t-shirt, yellow rain slicker and boots at a movie premiere? C’mon, Sarah.

On the red carpet at the premiere of “Nine,” Silverman took her casual and quirky style to a new low. The look was just sloppy. And many people mistook her for a reincarnation of Alanis Morrissette in the ’90s. I want to believe she was being contrarian in her choice of outfit. Hello! She knew she was going to a premiere of a movie staring some of Hollywood’s most glamorous women: Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz and Kate Hudson (sometimes). But, maybe she really just didn’t care. As was probably the case.

At least the girl’s consistent and free-thinking in her style choices, no matter how much it hurts to look at some of the outfits she comes up with. I would never recommend she get a stylist. I appreciate that she is her own person and really doesn’t put too much stock in projecting a glamorous image. After all, it would be a total sham. It wouldn’t make sense to put a potty-mouth in a Prada dress. And, we’ve all seen what happens when she tries to fight her tomboy style (ahem, her blue balloon dress at the 2009 Emmys).

So, in spite of all the bad outfits, even her most recent fashion catastrophe, I say, “rock on, Sarah Silverman!” Can’t nobody hold you down. Or, zip you into a classy outfit.

I'm sure if Sarah could give you a rebuttal, it would involve poop, boogers, farts, or her own butt. Just sayin'! I love her too...sometimes.
