Actress Brittany Murphy Dies

brittany-murphy-1Brittany Murphy, the charming actress known for her roles in Clueless, 8 Mile and Just Married, died of a heart attack yesterday morning in Los Angeles. She was 32.

According to Variety, Murphy was found unconscious in the shower by her mother. After her husband, writer-producer Simon Monjack, called paramedics, she was taken to Cedars Sinai Medical Center and pronounced dead on arrival.

According to CNN, the LA County Coroner’s Office said that she died of “natural causes.” An autopsy had not been scheduled as of Sunday night, but Capt. John Kades, a spokesman for the coroner’s office, said there was no sign of foul play or trauma. The coroner’s office is looking into Murphy’s medical history; a final report could take up to eight weeks.

This morning, some people have spoken of a Brittany Murphy death hoax – but this story is absolutely not a hoax.

Murphy was born in Atlanta and started acting on Murphy Brown in 1991. She also appeared in Sin City, Little Black Book, Uptown Girl and Girl Interrupted. She also did animation voice work on Futurama, King of the Hill and Happy Feet. Even more tragically, she was on the verge of a career comeback, with several movies coming out in 2010. According to Imdb.com, she had a number of films in production, including Abandoned, Something Wicked, The Expendables and Shrinking Charlotte.

We’ll definitely miss you, Brittany. What was your favorite movie of hers? Clueless is probably mine – so many one-liners to quote. “Rollin’ with the homies…”
