Mike Fisher better not cheat on his new fiance, or he’ll be getting a louisville slugger to both headlights. That’s right, country sweetheart Carrie Underwood (29) is getting hitched to her 26 year-old hockey player boyfriend.
According to E Online, Carrie’s publicist said, “I’m happy to confirm that Carrie Underwood is engaged to Mike Fisher, and the couple couldn’t be happier.” The former American Idol champion from Oklahoma started dating Mike, who plays for the Ottawa Senators, more than a year ago. They met through friends after one of her concerts in Toronto.
You could tell things were getting serious when Mike made the liner notes of Carrie’s new album, Play On. Carrie wrote: ”You are the most amazing addition to my life. I thank God for you every day…xoxo Carrie.” The couple have yet to set a wedding date…or say whether she’ll be changing her name to Carrie Fisher.
Mike is 6’1” to Carrie’s 5’3 1/2″, and hails from Peterborough, Ontario. Sigh. I’ve always loved hockey players. They’re so boyish and fit, and usually have just the right amount of scruff. But since hockey’s not so huge in the U.S., they don’t seem to have the huge egos of football or basketball stars. I think Carrie’s really onto something here.
