Meryl is taking a stand for everyone over 50 with a libido! Streep insists that her age (the Oscar-laden is 60) will never stop her from considering a sex scene:
“Because, you know, we still are alive. It’s you and I, baby. It’s authentic.”
“The whole idea that you have to look a certain way and be a certain age to earn love is ridiculous. We love what we love. It doesn’t matter what shape it is. It’s thrilling to see real people on screen.”
This month she stars in It’s Complicated with Alec Baldwin (51) about a woman who impulsively hooks up with her ex-husband, married to a younger woman, while also juggling a potential romance with an architect. The billboard depicts the two in bed, Streep horrified, Baldwin satisfied. And I will admit, the billboards grossed me out a bit -
BUT NOT because of what Streep might think.
I don’t think baby boomers having sex is a nasty concept at all. I just don’t like to think about my parents having sex.
THAT IS ALL!
Should I grow up? Okay, fine, that’s an easy question.
How about this: are you really going to see *another* Nancy Meyers movie, and SHOULD WE, after what Manohla Dargis has been sounding off about?
