Christmas Present Review: Hot Tools ION Ceramic Hair Dryer

Hi there! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and that Santa was good to you this year. I received a pretty darn good gift from my mother-in-law this year: A Hot Tools Ceramic/Ionic Hair Dryer. I’m not too picky when it comes to my dryer because my flat iron really does the bulk of the work so when she asked me what kind of dryer I wanted, I told her to look at Hot Tools. I’ve used their curling irons for years but I’ve never tried the dryers so I was really excited to wash my hair this afternoon and try out my new toy.
One of the immediate nice features of the dryer is the size of the plug as its only slightly larger than a normal sized plug. That’s a huge plus for me as my bathroom is not really set up for those large boxy plugs and prevents me from using the other outlet. The control panel is digital so there are no protruding buttons on the handle except the on/off switch. That worries me a little cause those flush buttons always break on me, but it does allow for a better grip. There is a cool setting and an Ionic feature on/off switch along with two settings one for temperature and speed.
There are nine different heat and temperature settings and you can control them somewhat independently but as you increase the heat the speed will automatically increase to what is safe for that temperature. You can monitor your settings on the little digital screen that is located on the side of the dryer and it does remember you previous setting so you don’t have to adjust it every time.
I love that there is more than one heat setting and turned the temp up full blast at first but had to turn it down after a few minutes. It was a little too hot for my scalp but I’m not complaining. I love that it can get that hot and the air can get pretty intense too. I started with it on Max and then turned it to a mid range speed when I got most of the water out of my hair and it really helped tone down the frizz.
I used the Ionic feature half way through and although Ionic heat is supposed to dry your hair faster it still took me the same amount of time it always does to dry my hair. I’m not sure if I see much of a difference, but I’ll continue to use it since it is supposed to be better for you hair.
Another good feature is that its lightweight. I hate really heavy dryers even if they are better at toning my arms. When it comes to my dryer I want it to be light and maneuverable and the finish of the dryer itself is a non slip surface (clever). Hopefully this will prevent my dryer from crashing to the ground as a squeeze it on my cluttered bathroom counter while it’s running.
Thanks Barb, I love my new dryer. I hope you all got something equally as fun. What did you get for Christmas?
