When I had super short hair, I used Tancho Hair Stick like it was going out of style. Since I now have long hair I figured that I wouldn’t ever have a use for it anymore, but I was wrong. It turns out there are all kinds of ways to use Tancho with long hair too and men also especially love this product so I suggest investing in two unless you don’t mind sharing.
Tancho Stick has been around for about a gazillion years and though many think that is is a Japanese product, its actually from Indonesia. Tancho Stick is a solid, thick, wax stick (similar to the BedHead Hair Stick) with a light, clean scent that can be used on all hair types for various types of styling. Note: This product works best on dry hair unless its super short.
For Short Hair:
Super short hair is coming back with a vengeance, I absolutely love V’s Morena Baccarin’s super short do, and Tancho Stick is the perfect styling product for these types of cuts. Rub a little of this stick over naturally dried hair and it will help reduce any frizz and tame curls into soft waves. On flat ironed hair, a light application will give you lift and texture for that oh-so-coveted tousled bedhead look or you can go for broke and mash it in for more rock ‘n roll look (think Adam Lambert or Rhianna).
For Long Hair:
Long hair can benefit from Tancho Stick as well. Even though it is a wax, the consistency is so lightweight you won’t even know it’s there (unless you want to). Tancho stick works best for me as a re-texturizer when my hair is too clean. It works great around the hair line on any baby hairs or in my case, breakage, without leaving my hair looking greasy or “manipulated” in anyway. Another good use for this with long hair is to rub some of it into the roots at the crown for added lift and texture. The next day looks even better but I wouldn’t go more than three days between washings when using this product.
Unlike most wax products which I find can leave the hair looking dull, this product really boosts the shine in your hair. I’m so glad that I have discovered this product again now I just have to find a place to hide it from my husband.
