Maybe Oprah has started a trend. According to People magazine, Tyra Banks has announced that The Tyra Show is ending, after five seasons, two Daytime Emmys and a lot of girl power. ”This will be the last season of The Tyra Show,” Tyra said. “I’ve been loving having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms, hair salons for the past 5 years.”
I was never a big watcher of the show, but the model-turned-media maven did make some headlines when she pulled out her weave and confronted the media for claiming she looked fat in a bathing suit.
After the show is over this spring, Tyra will focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a N.Y.-based film production company that’s currently reviewing possible projects. “My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls to help us all feel as fierce as we truly are,” Tyra said.
It’s a commendable aim, but you do have to wonder why Tyra continues to host America’s Next Top Model. Sure, they’ve thought outside the box with their shorter model search last year, but it’s still models. I guess we should be glad that when ANTM returns in February, so will Tyra’s ABC show True Beauty.
“There’s a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart,” Tyra said on her Web site. “And I salute you my amazing family of viewers; without you there never would have been a Tyra Show. I really love you all.”
Since she thinks she’s a little Oprah she’s going to try to make “important” movies like “Adorable! Based on a novel by Diamond.”

Wish Tyra & Oprah had gotten together to produce movies and then included more black actresses (the way Tyler Perry is doing). This would put more black female to work.They complain that there are fewer and fewer roles for them but my question is why wait for whites to give you a job, produce our own movies. I would if I have a gazillion dollars like them.
