Wow, there have been a lot of new products and breakthrough technology in the cosmetic world this year. In celebration of the new year I’ve decided to pick five of what I think are the the most unique new products of the year.
Cargo Lipgloss with Timestrip Technology
Cargo lip glosses now have a Timestrip, a little strip you insert into the lid that activates as soon as you open the gloss for the first time and gradually changes to red over the next nine months. Nine months is the maximum amount of time you want to hold onto a lip gloss before it starts to bad and it’s nice to have a way to keep track of how long you’ve had it.
L’Oreal Telescopic and Givenchy Phenomen Mascaras
These are the ones with that crazy ball brush wand thingy. When I first saw these mascaras I figured it was a clever way to reinvent the wheel. But I was curious, and tried the cheaper version (L’Oreal) and while the ball is a little awkward at first it works really well at catching all of these tiny lashes in the corners. The mascara itself was mediocre but they may be onto something with this new brush shape. I’m not completely sold yet but we’ll see if the ball catches on.
InStyler Rotating Hot Hair Iron
I’m sure you have all seen some sort of infomercial for the InStyler: a flat iron, brush with a rotating curling iron that can straighten and curl your hair at the same time. No, I don’t own one but I have used it before and I can tell you it does work. In my opinion, it works best on fine to medium hair (thick hair is very time consuming) and is perfect for you ladies out there who want an easy way to achieve a variety of different looks. The only down side is that unlike a curling iron, the InStyler does not have a handle on the iron end so if you try to touch it you will get burned.
Stila 4.0
I’ve already written about this in a previous post which you can read here but it still deserves a spot on my list so here is a quick summary of what Stila 4.0 is. Stila 4.0 is a train case and docking station for your multi-media device. Downloadable make up tutorials are available at Stila’s website and play through speakers on the case. The future is here.
Latisse
This is another product I have written a previous post about. I’m still on the fence about this prescription but I have to give it a spot on this list as well. It really does grow more eyelashes. I’m sure it’s not going to go away and will be in over the counter products someday soon.
